Where Winds Meet: December Update Adds PS5 Fix, Mobile Launch & New Region
Where Winds Meet December 2025 Update - PS5 Fix, Mobile Launch, New Region
Where Winds Meet has already taken over a lot of my gaming time, and the December 2025 roadmap is about to pull me in even deeper. The dev team just shared a new update that covers PS5 visual improvements, a global mobile launch, a brand new region, new bosses, events, Twitch drops, and more quality of life tweaks that are on the way.
If you are just now hearing about the game, you can check out my original breakdown here: Where Winds Meet - Open World RPG First Look. This post is focused on what is new in December and how it affects players on PC, PS5, and soon mobile.
PS5 Visual Upgrade - HDR and PSSR Arrive
One of the loudest complaints from console players at launch was the inconsistent image quality on PlayStation 5. The December 12 update brings two important features - HDR support and PSSR.
- HDR: Better contrast, brighter highlights, and more detail in shadows. Mountains, rivers and night scenes should look a lot closer to the PC version.
- PSSR: A new upscaling and anti ghosting solution that helps keep high resolution visuals while smoothing out the frame rate and reducing blur during fast movement.
If you bounced off the PS5 version because the visuals felt soft or ghosty, this update is worth revisiting. It will not magically fix every performance issue overnight, but it should make exploration and combat feel much cleaner on a big screen.
Global Mobile Launch With Cross Progression
On December 12 the game officially launches worldwide on mobile as a free to play release. The important part is that mobile uses the same account ecosystem as PC and PS5. Characters, progress and purchases can carry across devices once you link your account.
That means you can run story quests and big sessions on PC or PS5, then use your phone for lighter grinds or exploration when you are away from your setup. I personally plan to keep my main time on a big screen, but it is great to see full cross progression support from day one.
New Region - Roaring Sands
December also expands the map with a new area called Roaring Sands. Expect harsher environments, new enemies and more places to get distracted instead of pushing the main story.
If you enjoy wandering, hunting for side quests and getting lost in the world, Roaring Sands looks like another excuse to ignore your quest log and just explore.
New Bosses And Combat Challenges
Two new bosses arrive with the roadmap - River Master and Feng Ruzhi. These fights are designed to test your understanding of the combat system and your build choices.
If you are the type of player who loves no hit runs, Legend difficulty attempts, or high skill montages, you will have fresh targets to lab and upload. For everyone else, expect a few humbling defeats before you learn their patterns.
December Events, New Sect, And Seasonal Content
The roadmap also highlights several limited time activities and a new sect:
- Jianghu Legacy story content throughout early December.
- Limited time activities like Fortune Beyond Parlor and The Great Faceologist.
- New sect - Velvet Shade arriving mid month with new style options and gameplay flavor.
- End of month Fireworks Festival to close out December.
If you like cosmetic hunting, timed challenges and checking off event milestones, December gives you a steady schedule to work through instead of just logging in and wondering what to do.
UI Improvements, Steam Deck Support And Future Plans
The dev team acknowledged that the current menus can feel cluttered and hard to read, especially in longer sessions. Subtitle fixes, better open world text presentation, healer screen improvements and tuning interface adjustments are all planned for the Version 1.2 update on January 9.
They also confirmed that Steam Deck support is in the works. No exact date yet, but the goal is to make the game playable and comfortable on Valve's handheld.
Twitch Drops And Community Bonuses
Alongside the content roadmap there are December Twitch drops that reward you for watching participating streams. You can earn coins, chests and even a Fledgling Warrior reward just by leaving a stream open while you play or hang out.
The dev talk also included a couple of community bonuses that you can enter inside the Bonus Input section of the in game menu. Check the official channels and community posts if you missed the codes during the stream.

If you prefer video, I put together a full breakdown of the December update, including my thoughts as someone who has been exploring the world instead of rushing the main quests.
Should You Jump In This Month?
If you are already playing Where Winds Meet, December is a good time to come back for new bosses, events, and visual improvements on PS5. If you are brand new, the combination of free to play mobile, cross progression, and a growing content schedule makes it easier to test the waters without committing to a single platform.
I will keep covering the game here on OnThaSticks with news, impressions and guides as the updates roll out. If you want to talk builds, story moments and wild NPC encounters, you can always join the community in the OnThaSticks Discord.
